Jeremy Votaw: Your New County Clerk
Before you read anything else on this site, I want you to understand three things:
First: At the end of this term, Sherrie Swensen will have worked for Salt Lake County for twenty years. I think we should thank her for the time she’s spent there. However, I don’t believe anyone, for any reason, should be running to complete their first quarter-century in office. I know I won't.
Second: The county clerk, though technically a partisan office, is not a partisan job. I’ve already gotten all sorts of questions, petitions, etc... asking me for my stance on this issue or that issue. I’m a Republican, and I believe in our platform, and our constitution. That’s all I have to say about that.
Third: The clerk's job is about providing accurate information in the most efficient and timely means available. The current Clerk's office has done the best that non-technical people can do with massive databases, stringent security requirements, and rapidly evolving technologies. However, their best simply isn't good enough.
